Kerry King and Tom Araya of Slayer are the hosts of The Chamber, the metal radio station in Grand Theft Auto VI. Rockstar has a preview of their voiceover work up on its own site.
The three songs confirmed so far are Slayer's Raining Blood, Pantera's I'm Broken and Black Sabbath's I, which is a catalogue of exactly the sort a licensing department assembles: expensive, recognisable, and owned by three of the largest publishers in the business.
What it is worth is harder to guess and easier to feel. The last Grand Theft Auto sold over two hundred million copies, and a song placed on one of its stations is heard more often than it is on radio. For a band that has not released a new album in eleven years and plays farewell shows, a permanent slot in the biggest entertainment product of the decade is a different kind of annuity.
The full soundtrack has not been announced. The game arrives on 19 November on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
