Killswitch Engage play Mystic Festival in Gdansk on 11 June 2027, one of four names added to the bill.

The other three are Sinister, Castle Rat and Slift, and the pairing of the first two on the same day is the detail worth noticing. Sinister have been playing Dutch death metal since 1988 with no interest in melody at all, and Killswitch Engage spent the 2000s teaching a generation of bands how to put a chorus in one. Both on 11 June.

The festival's own copy says the Americans buried nu metal and started the metalcore revolution, which is the kind of claim a line-up announcement makes rather than a historian, but the influence is real enough that nobody argues with the booking.

Mystic has been assembling its 2027 edition in waves for months, and this one leans harder than the last. The earlier announcements brought Children Of Bodom, Faith No More, Helloween and Watain.

Castle Rat and Slift come from somewhere else entirely, doom theatre and French psychedelia, which is how this festival has always built a weekend.
