King Buffalo release Doomsayer on 4 December. The Rochester trio put it out themselves in North America and hand Europe to Stickman Records, and the first song, The Slick and the Dead, is already up.
Seven tracks: Battling The Mystagogues, The Slick and the Dead, Vagabond, Hell or High Water, Into the Foundry, Ether on the Dark Side and the title track. Sean Roa recorded it with Dan Reynolds on bass and synth and Scott Donaldson on drums.
The years since Regenerator in 2022 went into two things, touring and building a recording studio of their own, and Roa says the new album started there at the beginning of this year. Regenerator closed the trilogy the band made across the pandemic, three albums in roughly eighteen months, which is the opposite pace to this one.
A band that self-releases at home while a European label handles the rest is a band that has done the arithmetic and decided it prefers the control. Four years to make the next record is what that control buys.
