King Buffalo have put out Ether on the Dark Side, another piece of Doomsayer, which arrives on 4 December.

It is their seventh album and the first in four years, after Regenerator closed the trilogy they made at home through the pandemic. This one was made at home as well, except that home is now a studio the three of them built.

Sean Roa, who plays guitar and sings, produced and mixed it, and says it started from hours of jamming in the new room with no end in mind. “So much has happened, both as a band and in our personal lives since our last record, that ended up becoming the inspiration to many of the lyrics,” he said. He calls the result the most direct and riff driven work they have done, which for a band whose reputation rests on patience is a thing worth noticing.

Seven tracks, closing on the title song. The band release it themselves in North America and through Stickman Records in Europe.

They are on the road in North America until the middle of December, with Europe following in March.
