Kita will release their second album, Ikuinen, on 20 November. Two songs from it are already streaming.
The production is in house in the most literal sense. Jonne Hirvonen, who plays guitar and keyboards in the band, recorded and mixed the album across Studio Mikpoli and Studio Hirvox, with Jaakko Viitalahde mastering at Virtalahde Mastering. For a band on No Profit Recordings that is both a cost decision and a sound decision, and it usually shows in how much low end survives the mix.
How it sounds: death metal with the weight of sludge under it, tempos that drop out from under a riff rather than accelerate, and the Finnish-language titles kept rather than translated.
The band formed in 2020 and have moved quickly: the EP Ocean of Acid in 2021, the first album Tyhjio in 2023, and this year the singles Voyager III and Tyhjiopommi before the album. The line-up is Hirvonen on guitars, keyboards and vocals, Antti Kalliomaki on guitars, Topi Saastamoinen on bass and Aatu Pitkanen on drums.
