Korpituli have an EP coming on 24 October with a title longer than two of its songs: The Forgotten Realms of Korpituli, Chapter 1: The Keys and Gates at the Northern Docks. It runs seven tracks, five of them instrumental, and Korpituli Productions is pressing it as a CD-R in an edition of fifty.
Fifty copies is a decision rather than a shortage. The band from Oulu has worked this way since 2021, three albums and a handful of demos and singles put out on its own label, and the EP is the first part of something the title says will have further parts.
The shortest piece, A Trembling Path Home, is one minute and nine seconds. The longest, Sorrow of the Forest Spirits at the Fallen Age Old Oak Tree, is three minutes and nineteen. In between sit Phantom Whispers From The Twilight, Beholding the March of the Mountain Trolls, Sprites Floating Within the Grove, Unfamiliar Dread Emerges and Forgotten Echoes in the Soil and Wind. Metal Archives lists the band's themes as the magical secrets of nature and other worlds, which the titles do not contradict.
The concert the record is named for, At the Northern Docks IV, happens on 24 October as well, and the band has put footage of itself getting ready for it online. S.Korpituli plays everything and S.Redeemer has been on drums since 2023.
