Krallice release Scour Order on Friday, 18 September, through Profound Lore Records. The label put out the band's first three albums, from the self-titled debut in 2008 to Diotima in 2011, and the band self-released most of what followed.
The music was commissioned by Roadburn, and the band premiered it there in April. The line-up is the four-piece Krallice have had since 2008: Mick Barr and Colin Marston on guitars and vocals, Nicholas McMaster on bass and vocals, Lev Weinstein on drums. Marston recorded, mixed and mastered the album, and Barr painted the cover.
Marston wrote his own lyrics. The rest are McMaster's and draw on the works of David Ferry and on Aeschylus' Oresteia, while "Grievous Corrector" works in lines from Hölderlin's "Mnemosyne" in Ferry's translation.
Two of the eight songs are out. "Living Useless Ritual" came with the announcement on 27 July and "Kill the Guardian" on 24 August. Of the second, Marston said: "We call this song 'porridger.' It's soupy and nutritious."
The album is out as a double LP, on CD, on cassette and digitally. The band's first European tour, with UK dates, follows from 8 October to 7 November.
