Leper Colony have released Back to Primal Sludge, their third album, through Testimony Records, and the whole thing is up to hear.

The band exists to answer one question, and it is in the record's own description: where do Floridian death metal and the Stockholm sound actually meet. Those are the genre's two founding dialects, one built on precision and the other on a guitar tone nobody has reproduced since, and most bands pick a side.

The people trying are the right ones. Rogga Johansson has written more Swedish death metal than most labels have released, and Marc Grewe sang on the records that made Morgoth a name in Germany. A third album in a few years is the pace of a project where the writing never stops.

Three albums deep, a full stream on release week is the move of a band whose audience buys on hearing rather than on anticipation, which is also the most honest way to sell death metal.
