Les Chants De Nihil release Graines tomorrow, 6 November, through Les Acteurs de l'Ombre Productions.

The structure is the story. Four songs come first, Ignares, Saigner, Garnies and Regains, and then the second half of the record is a single piece in four movements: L'impregnation, Le temps suspendu, L'etincelle primale and Pour un ailleurs.

Splitting an album down the middle like that asks something of a listener, and it is a very French thing to do in black metal, where the label putting it out has spent fifteen years funding bands who write in long forms and in their own language rather than in English.

The words translate as seeds, and the four part title moves from impregnation through suspended time and a primal spark to somewhere else, which is as clear a sequence as a record gets.

Metal Archives lists the format as CD. Les Acteurs de l'Ombre tend to press these as objects rather than products, with artwork and booklets that assume somebody will sit with the thing, which is the only format in which a four part suite makes sense at all.
