Love Sex Machine have a fourth album coming. Thriving goes out on 13 November through Pelagic Records, as a coloured vinyl limited to 250 copies, and the first song from it is The Herd.
The band's note on the song is four lines long and does the work of a press release. "This song is about being treated in a slaughterhouse run by cows. Probably unbearable. As is the song."
That tone has been theirs throughout. The quartet formed in Lille in 2009 and has spent seventeen years on weight, repetition and confrontation, with the brutal humour kept in the titles rather than in the playing. Asexual Anger came in 2016 and Trve in 2024, and the record before them was self titled. The new one has eleven tracks and they describe it as uglier, more direct and more violent than anything they have made, which is a claim the catalogue makes plausible.
The two sources do not agree on who is in the band. Metal Hammer Italia lists four, Xavier on drums, JB on guitar, Laurent on bass and Yves on guitar, lead vocals and the mix, all four on backing vocals. Metal Archives has three, Jb on guitars, Yves on vocals and guitars and Javier Rodriguez-Lopez on drums since 2016.
