Macabre Demise have released "Smile While You Rot", their first new song since 2023, carried as an exclusive by Slam Worldwide.
The band have worked out of Landshut in Bavaria since 2007 and have fifteen releases behind them, four of those full length albums. The last of them, Grave(y)art Gallery, came out in 2023 on Rebirth the Metal Productions, and nothing followed it until this week.
Three years is a long gap for a brutal death metal band, where the format usually rewards a steady drip of splits, singles and short records, and this band had been keeping exactly that pace for sixteen years before it stopped. Whether the new song is the front of an album or a one off, nobody has said.
What it does say is that the German brutal death scene still runs on the same economy it always has: small labels, long discographies, songs that arrive without a campaign behind them and find their listeners anyway.
