Maestrick have released Zion with a video, through Frontiers Music. It is the first thing the Brazilian band have put out with a changed line-up, and they are calling it the start of a new chapter.
The list of reference points they give is the unusual part, because it does not pick a side. Hans Zimmer and Gustav Holst on one hand, for the symphonic and cinematic weight they say the song leads with; Muse, VOLA, Spiritbox and Bad Omens on the other, for the electronics and the modern surfaces. Most bands name one set or the other and hope nobody asks about the gap.
The band say they are grateful for what they have made so far but that this song takes them into territory they have not been in, and that they cannot wait to find out what is there.
They have been going since 2004, out of Sao Jose do Rio Preto in Sao Paulo state, with Fabio Caldeira singing and playing piano and Renato Somera on bass across the whole of it. Their last album, Espresso della vita: Lunare, came out last year.
