Maledictus have released Siren's Lullaby with a video, the fourth song taken from Lazarvs, a debut album that does not arrive until 13 November through Fireflash Records.
Four singles before a first record is a campaign, not an accident, and for a band formed in 2024 it is also the only sensible strategy. Nobody is waiting for their album, so each song has to find its own audience, and by November the record will reach people who already know a third of it.
The Lisbon five piece work a dark, atmospheric register: aggressive riffing under unsettling melody, with the vocals carrying most of the drama. Metal Archives files them as gothic and progressive metal, which is the usual filing for a band whose songs change shape halfway through.
The lyric is the old sailor and siren story turned inward. A love that promises shelter and becomes a prison, devotion and self destruction separated by almost nothing, and an ending in which getting free means letting go of the thing holding you. The band put the moral plainly: not every voice calling you home leads somewhere safe.
