Marcus Andersson, who played drums in Disfear from 1998, died on 15 September after a four year illness. The band announced it themselves.
"With profound sadness and grief, we are sharing the news of the untimely passing of our longtime friend and drummer, Marcus Andersson," the statement reads. "Marcus fought incredibly hard but ultimately lost his 4-year battle with glioblastoma and leaves behind his beloved wife, children and dog. Marcus has played with Disfear since 1998, contributing significantly to the creative trajectory of the band. Marcus was the best of friends, an incredible drummer, and a driving force, full of passion. A big heart, pumping to a rhythm that only he could uniquely master, has sadly stopped beating. Losing Marcus, following the losses of Henrik and Tomas, is hard to comprehend. Hug your loved ones."
Glioblastoma is the most aggressive of the brain tumours and four years is a long time to have held it off.
He joined between Everyday Slaughter in 1997 and Misanthropic Generation in 2003, which is to say he played on the records that took the band out of the Stockholm crust scene and into rooms where nobody had heard a d-beat before. Live the Storm followed in 2008. The line-up around him has held for most of that time: Ulf Cederlund and Björn Petterson on guitars, Tomas Lindberg singing.
