Marea have put out a lyric video for The Beauty of Broken Things, the second track from A Caress of Autumn for All the Lost. Hypnotic Dirge Records and Masked Dead Records release it together on 9 October.
Eight tracks, fifty two minutes and eight seconds: A Caress of Autumn, The Beauty of Broken Things, Eremita, Still Horizon, Aurora, For All the Lost, Night Birds and Absence of Self. That is a first taste of the record rather than a summary of it, and at six and a half minutes average the songs are built to unfold rather than to land.
Marea is Matteo Balzarini on his own, playing guitars and bass and singing, working in the atmospheric register where black metal and doom stop being separable. He started the project in Italy in 2023, released The Silence of Rust in 2024 and the Adrift EP in 2025, which makes this the second album in three years.
