Master release Among the Seeds of Death on Friday through Hammerheart. Nine songs on a compact disc, which is how Paul Speckmann has released most of them.
The count is the story. Master have been putting out albums at roughly this rate since the late eighties, and Speckmann has been playing this exact music since 1983, which makes him one of two or three people who can claim to have been making death metal before the genre had a name and to still be making it the same way.
The titles have not softened either. "Injustice and Lack of Remorse", "A Cell with a Door and No Slave": the politics have been consistent for forty years and so has the bass tone.
Hammerheart have handled the recent run, and the title track at three minutes twenty is the shortest thing here, which in this band's arithmetic means it is the one that moves fastest.
