Mastic Scum have released Arise // Erase, the second song from Void, the seventh album they have dated for the end of October. It comes as a digital single and a lyric visualiser.
Eleven tracks, and the band's own framing is that the record widens rather than replaces: the groove and the death metal weight stay where they were, with more room around them. Arise // Erase is the harder of the two songs out so far, which is a sensible way to answer anyone who read the word broadening as softening.
The guest list says something about where this band sits in the Austrian scene. Sebastian Grihm of Cytotoxin, Andy Dude of Throwback and Mike Kronstorfer of Before The Fall all appear on the album, which is three favours from three different corners of the same circuit.
CD and vinyl on 30 October, with no streaming exclusive attached, is also a statement of who the record is for.
