David Ellefson has described watching Megadeth from the audience at Louder Than Life, five years after he was last in the band.

He and Metal Church, the band he now plays with, were on the same main stage roughly five hours apart on 17 September in Louisville. He saw most of the current line-up in catering. "Dave was not there, so I didn't see him," he said on The David Ellefson Show. "I'd heard he was there, and he walked out, maybe when I walked in. I don't know if that was related or not."

He introduced himself to Teemu Mantysaari and said the band admire his playing. Dirk Verbeuren and James LoMenzo he already knew, and he points out that he helped get Verbeuren the job.

Then he went out front with Ken Mary and watched. "I didn't know how I was gonna respond to it," he said. "It was, like, well, there's Dave and three other guys playing our songs. That's all, really, that it was."

His own answer to that is already booked. The Bass Warrior tour takes Countdown To Extinction across Europe for three weeks. "My era of Megadeth is my era."
