Mental Cruelty have released Frost, the next song from Echoes of a Forlorn Land, which Century Media puts out on 23 October.
The title is the Fimbulvetr, the three winters without a summer between them that Norse myth places immediately before Ragnarök. The band describe the song as a slow walk through ice that goes on for three years, which is roughly what the myth says too, and the arrangement takes its time in a way the band has not always allowed itself.
Jens Bogren produced, mixed and mastered the album, the same hands that shaped records for Dimmu Borgir, Behemoth, Kreator, Amon Amarth and Opeth. It follows Zwielicht, and the band say it pushes further into atmosphere than that one did.
In November and December they take it across Europe on a headline tour with Ov Sulfur and Extermination Dismemberment.
