MÉS have put out a new song called Dying Star with a video, their first new music since 2023.

Nothing has been announced behind it. For an unsigned band that is often the whole plan rather than a staging post: a song released now is a song that exists, and a third album announced for a date they cannot afford to meet is a worse position to be in.

The band formed in 2014 and work across two French regions, which for a heavy and thrash band without a label means rehearsals and recording are logistics before they are music.

Their first album, Through the Eyes of..., came out in 2018, and the second, The Scent of Death, in 2023 with a single of the same name ahead of it. Two full-lengths in eleven years is the pace of a band fitting this around other lives.

The groove in what they do sits closer to the heavier end of thrash than to the melodic French scene around them, and Dying Star is the first indication of where the third record might go.
