Meshuggah will tour North America next year for their fortieth anniversary, on a run called The Forty-Year Anomaly Tour, and the support is expected to be Testament and Blood Incantation.

That is three bands from three different arguments. Thrash from 1983, a Swedish band who spent the 1990s making time signatures a problem for everyone else, and a death metal group young enough to have grown up on both. Nobody would have booked it in 1987 and it makes complete sense now.

Two dates are out so far: 16 February at the Masonic Temple in Detroit, and 13 May at Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus as part of Sonic Temple, with Milwaukee Metal Fest at The Rave the following night.

The full announcement is expected within the day and tickets go on general sale on Friday 30 October at ten in the morning Eastern time.

Forty years from inception rather than from the first album, which for this band is the right way to count it.
