Metallica have released official footage of "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" filmed at the Sphere in Las Vegas on 3 October, the second night of their Life Burns Faster residency.
The song comes from Master of Puppets, which makes it forty years old next year, and the venue is the reason the clip exists at all. The Sphere wraps the audience in screen, and a band playing there is buying a visual production that cannot travel, so the only way most people will ever see it is like this.
That night also carried the rarities. "Devil's Dance" came back after eighteen years, and "The Outlaw Torn" returned for the first time since 2019, which is a strange pair to hang on the one night the cameras were definitely rolling.
The residency runs at the Sphere into March 2027, with arena shows in Uncasville in November and a stadium run opening in Vancouver next May.
