Misery Index are recording their eighth album, out in 2027 through Season of Mist, and the band are being unusually specific about how it is going. Vocals are being tracked this week while the guitars go down in separate sessions, and the drums were finished earlier.
“We have at least 12 songs, let's see which ones make the cut,” the band wrote in an update posted on 26 September. That last clause is the interesting part: a deathgrind record with twelve songs written and a plan to leave some behind is a band editing rather than filling a running time.
Feral Future came out this summer and was written during the same sessions, which makes it the only thing anybody has heard from the material so far. The band promised more news shortly, which on this evidence means a date rather than another teaser.
