MNRK Music Group has acquired the recorded catalogue of Black Label Society: eleven studio albums, the live releases, the EPs, and Zakk Wylde's solo recordings alongside them. No figure was disclosed.
The buyer is not a stranger. "Zakk has been part of the MNRK family for many years, and this deal reflects the strength of that relationship," Sean Stevenson, the group's chief executive, said. "Black Label Society has built one of the most enduring and loyal fanbases in heavy music."
Scott Givens, a senior vice president there, put the asset in the terms a buyer uses: "Zakk Wylde is one of the true icons of modern heavy music. The Black Label Society catalog represents decades of powerful songwriting, unforgettable riffs, and an incredibly dedicated global audience."
Catalogue sales have been the quiet business of the last five years, mostly in rock and pop. A back catalogue this size moving inside heavy music is the part worth noting.
