Molder have released "Covered in Spores", their contribution to a four way split with Exhumed, Nunslaughter and Traffic Death, out on 30 October through Redefining Darkness Records.
A four way split is an old format and a telling one. It costs each band one song, puts four audiences in the same place and tends to be arranged between bands who already share bills, which is how the American death metal underground has introduced itself to itself for forty years.
The company here is not accidental either. Exhumed have been doing this since 1990 and Nunslaughter longer still, so a band as young as Molder appearing alongside them is a form of endorsement that no press release can buy.
Redefining Darkness have carried a long run of these records, and the band's own songs this year have been arriving one at a time rather than as an album, which leaves the split as the only place to hear this one.
