Monolithe have released "Unknown Stellar Samples", the first song taken from Agalma, which is dated for 22 January and will be their eleventh album.
Three months between a first single and a release date is a long lead for any band, and a very long one for this band in particular: Monolithe built their name on single track albums running the better part of an hour, so the idea of a song that can be lifted off a record and played on its own is itself relatively recent for them.
The French group have worked the same seam since 2003, slow and long form, with a science fiction frame that the title here keeps. Whatever shortening has happened to their songs over eleven records has not touched the tempo.
Nothing else has been taken off the album yet, and the January date leaves room for two or three more.
