Mother Augusta have released "Deep, Dark, Silent", the song that opens Labyrinths Of Pain. The album arrives on 7 November through Talheim Records.
Six songs: the one above, then "Outsider", "Wrong Choices", "Other Worlds", "Years Of Dust On A Broken Clock" and the title track. The band describe it as an eternal journey that leads only to a level below, and say the writing is more complex and the pace more oppressive than on the records before it.
They have called themselves an entity rather than a band since 2013, and the stated sources are nocturnal streets, empty subway stations and abandoned buildings. That is urban black metal rather than the forest kind, a smaller and more Italian tradition, and it tends to produce records that sound like concrete rather than like weather.
Memory, introspection and suffering is the stated subject, approached, they say, more cynically than before. Third album, six songs, CD and digital.
