Motorik Road Trip have set Perceptions from a Dark Earth for 27 November on Octopus Rising and Argonauta Records, on CD and digital, and put out a video for "Xenolith" to open it.

Eight tracks, forty four minutes, and not a word sung on any of it. The Bristol trio have been fully instrumental since they formed in 2022, which is a harder way to hold a listener than it sounds, and the songs are built to do the work a voice would otherwise do: "2204" runs past seven minutes, "Wacian" and "Infinite Transmission" close to six each.

They recorded at Axe and Trap Studios in Somerset, going back in during the summer of 2025 and spending six months on the eight pieces. The band name Monkey3, Karma to Burn, SLIFT and Elder as the company they keep, which covers the ground between stoner riffing and long form psychedelia fairly precisely.

Their debut, V, arrived in January 2025 after a run of self released singles and EPs, so this is the second album in under two years from a band that spent its first three on short form records.
