Motus Tenebrae have released a film for "Pulvere Sacro", from In Sorrow's Requiem, their sixth album and the one that marks twenty five years of the band.
Twenty five years of Italian gothic doom without ever leaving it is the achievement here. The reference points offered with the song are the obvious four, Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, Sentenced and Katatonia, and three of those four long ago went somewhere else. This band did not.
What the album is described as, by the people releasing it, is their most decadent, which in this genre is a compliment about texture rather than about excess. The song was given a film made with Solar Sphere Multimedia rather than a label clip, and the result leans on atmosphere.
Out on CD, vinyl and digitally through My Kingdom Music, the Italian label that has been the home of this music in the country for almost as long as the band have existed.
