Motus Tenebrae have released a video for Solitude, from In Sorrow's Requiem, made by Solar Sphere Multimedia.
The band are explicit about what the song is for. Solitude is not just a track, they say, but an exploration of the void that each of us eventually has to face, and the footage gives that detachment a shape through heavy shadow and hard contrast rather than through anything literal. What they are after is loneliness as a condition rather than as an absence of company, the kind that becomes difficult to step out of.
The album came out on 8 May through My Kingdom Music and ended a long silence. Deathrising was the one before it, in 2016, which makes ten years between full records. Ten songs, built on the European gothic and doom tradition, with mournful melody over heavy guitar and no attempt at a way out.
The names that sit closest to it are the obvious ones: Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, Sentenced, Katatonia. For a band that waited a decade to make another one, that is a defensible company to keep.
