Pretty Maids headline Næstved Metalfest on the weekend of 26 to 28 August next year, and the detail the festival leads with is the odd one: in forty five years the band have never played there.

"It will be our first-ever performance in Næstved in the 45 years we've been around," the band said, "and it's our only show on Zealand in 2027." They also say they will have a new album out by then, which is the first word of one.

Dark Tranquillity headline too, and the rest of the eight announced today spread across six countries: Myrath from Tunisia, An Abstract Illusion from Sweden, the Dutch thrash veterans Dead Head, and F.K.Ü., whose name stands for something involving Freddy Krueger and who have built a career out of 1980s horror films.

That is a bill with almost nothing in common musically, which is what a festival this size has to do to fill three days. A Danish institution, a Gothenburg cornerstone, Tunisian progressive metal and a horror thrash band is a weekend with no dead afternoons in it.
