Necrocene are streaming Scumocracy in full before it arrives on 18 September through Personal Records. It is their first album.
The name bends a geological term into an argument: the epoch after ours will not be named for humanity but for the system that consumed it. That runs through the lyrics and through the way the record is built, which deliberately refuses the hyper-technical and goes back to the raw end of the late eighties and early nineties in Florida, the Morrisound sound, Obituary and Death and Cancer.
It is not all speed. Ten tracks that break into sudden accelerations and then sit down into heavy, measured passages, on social decay, indifference and technological obsolescence.
The band came out of Italy's punk and metal undergrounds, around Lucca and Florence, and put out the EP Detrimental Paratomy in 2024.
