Necrofagore have released Horrible Shapes in the Astral Trance, and the subject is not a metaphor. One member of the band has sleep paralysis, and it got bad enough that he became afraid of going to bed.
What the band describe next is the part that makes the song worth hearing. Rather than avoid it, he went into astral projection looking for some control over what was happening to him. Horror written from the inside out, instead of borrowed from a film.
It arrives ahead of Where the Shadows Spread Death and Desolation, their third album, which Fetzner Death Records and Thrashirts put out on 27 November. Nineteen years out of Lima, founded in 2007 by Alexander Castaneda, with two albums behind this one and a 2010 demo before those.
The sound comes from Sweden by way of Peru: Dismember, Entombed, Grave, God Macabre. Carlos Medina recorded it, and the cover pairs a drawing by Camile Brevo with design work by the band's own bassist.
