Night Cobra have named their second album. Beware The Dark Future comes through Nameless Graves Records, and James Rivera of Helstar sings on more than one track.
Rivera is the detail that matters. Putting that voice on a second album is a smaller gesture than a famous guest and a larger one than a favour.
The debut came out in 2022 on High Roller Records. The move to Nameless Graves, an independent heavy metal label, is the second half of the change the band have been making this year.
Houston is the whole frame here. Helstar formed there in 1982 and spent the eighties making technical heavy metal that most of the United States did not catch up with for twenty years. Night Cobra came out of the same city four decades later playing something faster and rougher, and the two of them ending up on the same record is the kind of thing a scene does when it still has one.
No date and no tracklist have been given yet, only the title, the label and the guest.
