Noctiferia have put out a video for Aeon Shift, the first piece of an eighth album due in November through Nika Records. It is also the first recording with Miloš Mihajlović singing and David Bordon on drums.
The two of them complete a five piece alongside the guitarists Igor Nardin and Andrej Blatnik and the bassist Uroš Lipovec. That line up played its first Slovenian show at Orto Fest in Ljubljana on 18 April this year, mixing old songs with some of the new ones. Neither the album's title nor its exact date has been announced yet.
The band call Aeon Shift the most recognisably Noctiferia thing on the record: an atmospheric opening that gives way to heavier passages and builds to a forceful close. It is the bridge they are using to introduce a new voice without pretending nothing has changed.
Noctiferia go back to the early nineties project Emetica and took the current name in Ljubljana. Baptism at Savica Fall in 1998 set out a black and pagan metal foundation; Per Aspera, Slovenska Morbida, Death Culture, Pax, Transnatura and the 2021 Laibach tribute Reforma took it through death metal, industrial, groove and electronics. Thirty years of it fall in 2027.
