Oakenthrone release Ad Silvam on 27 November, the first full length from a band who have been putting out everything except one since 2022.

Nine releases came before it, singles and a split and a compilation, which is a way of working that suits black metal and almost nothing else. A band can spend four years building an audience one song at a time and only then decide what an album of theirs should be.

Nathan Caven recorded and engineered it, and Samuel Turbitt mixed and mastered it at Ritual Studios. Vendetta Records are putting it out.

Two songs are already streaming, and the one that came before them, A Vigil Under Sol, is the best guide to what the rest will sound like.

The title means to the forest, and this is a Manchester band, which is either a joke or exactly the point. English black metal has spent twenty years writing about a countryside most of its musicians reach by train.
