Obbrobrius have put out "All In One And One In All", the second song from Usurped, which Over The Border Records release on 6 November. metal.de premiered the lyric video for it, and the subject is Yog Sothoth, which is about as close to a thesis statement as a Lovecraft reference gets.
The detail worth holding onto is the label. Usurped is their second album and the first one made with anybody behind it: the debut Daisy's Creepy Tales came out two years ago on their own. For an Italian band sitting between groove and death metal, with a name most people cannot say out loud, a first label deal on album two is the whole story, and it arrives in the same month as the record.
The first song off it was the one that never bothers with a chorus, so the shape of the album is becoming clear: long riffs, no hooks laid out for anyone, and the vocals used as another rhythm instrument rather than a melody line.
The CD is up for pre-order now, which for a band at this level means the pressing is small and the record is already paid for by the people who want it.
