Obbrobrius have put out a video for Leviathan's Cage, and the structure is the point: the song that opens Usurped has no chorus at all, moving instead through two blocks of riffing and two guitar solos, with the bass high enough in the mix to carry the groove on its own. The nine track album arrives on 6 November through Over The Border Records.
It is the second record from the Pescara band, after the 2024 debut Daisy's Creepy Tales, which they released themselves. The method across it is to let death metal passages break into the groove rather than sit beside it, so the heavier eruptions reshape whatever came before them.
The words come from true crime, post apocalyptic cinema and horror fiction, and the band use all three to write about mental distress rather than about monsters. Blood In My Eyes is about anger. Chronic Sickness is about the anxiety that television news spread during the pandemic. Leviathan's Cage gives those fears a body and a cage to be kept in, which is the oldest trick horror has and still the one that works.
