Obscura have cancelled the last three dates of their Mexican tour. Mexico City, Monterrey and Durango are off, after the band played the first five shows of the run.
The statement does something most cancellations avoid, which is name the cause. "Due to the promoter's failure to meet essential logistical and organizational obligations, we are unable to proceed with these shows as planned," it reads. A band blaming a local promoter in public is a decision with consequences for the next tour of that territory, and they have taken it in writing.
They also say what happens next: all three concerts are to be rescheduled "for 2027 under better circumstances and with a different local partner", and ticket holders are told to go back to the point of purchase for a refund.
The run had been going well enough that they put a song out on the way to it. "Following five successful shows and a warm welcome from our loyal Mexican fans," the statement begins, which is the band making clear that the problem was not the audience.
