Obscura have released a video for The Prolonging, from A Sonication. It arrived without warning, days before the band open the next leg of the tour in Mexico.
Steffen Kummerer put the song's own measure on it: one of the shortest and fastest tracks the band have delivered, and one that turned into a favourite on the tours behind the album. For a band whose reputation rests on long, dense, technical writing, a short fast song being the one the audience latches onto is worth noting rather than hiding.
Mirko Witzki directed it, as he has the band's other recent clips. His list includes Arch Enemy and Kreator, which places this somewhere nearer the mainstream of German metal video work than the underground.
The band are from Landshut and have been going since 2002 under Kummerer, who is the one constant through a line-up history that has turned over more than once. North America, Europe and the UK follow Mexico on the same album cycle.
