Odious Sanction have released "The Shield of Mind", the first song from Overwhelming Hatred for Humanity, which Unique Leader Records put out on 31 October.
The arithmetic is the story. The band started in Cleveland in 1993, made Psychotically Enraged in 1999 and No Motivation to Live in 2006, and this is the third album in thirty three years. They work as a duo now: Scott Bryant, and Steve Shalaty, who has drummed in Immolation for most of the gap.
That lineage shows in the writing. The riffs are cut the way Immolation cut theirs, downward and sideways at once, and the hardcore edge that sat on the older records has been kept rather than smoothed off.
Slam Worldwide carried the video, which puts a band three decades old in front of the audience that follows new slam and brutal death, and a release date on the last day of October is a joke the label presumably enjoyed making.
