Omegashift release The Burden of Storms on 20 November through Nordic Mission, and Dwell Suspended is the song they have put up from it.
It is the third of eight, after While Men Slept and Spheres of Solace, and the eighth is the interesting one: Lazarus Brigade, recorded live at Kick. Closing a studio album with a concert recording is rare and usually means the band could not better the live version.
This is their second record. Doctrine of Dust came out in 2022 and nothing since, so four years have gone into eight songs.
Melodic doom from Kristiansand is a narrow corner of a narrow genre, and Nordic Mission are the label that occupies it. Their roster is built on bands who would otherwise have no obvious home, which is both the value and the limit of a label that specific.
The titles keep circling weather and suspension, and the record is named for the weight of it.
