Most tribute records pick four or five songs. Antiquus Scriptum have recorded eighteen, and one man played all of them. The Thing That Should Not Be arrives on 1 October, self-released through Bandcamp.
The track list works through Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets and ...And Justice for All almost in order: Fight Fire with Fire, Ride the Lightning, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Trapped Under Ice, Creeping Death, No Remorse, Seek and Destroy, Metal Militia, Blackened, And Justice for All, The Frayed Ends of Sanity, Dyers Eve, Battery, Master of Puppets and the title track. Hidden at the back is Green Hell, the Misfits song Metallica themselves covered, which is the one choice on the record that shows a sense of humour.
Antiquus Scriptum is Sacerdos Magus, who has recorded vocals, guitars, bass, drums and everything else himself in Almada since 1998, usually black metal with folk instruments threaded through it rather than thrash covers.
