Onsetcold have released The Gates of Hell Are in Heaven through Wormholedeath, nearly eight minutes long and with a video alongside it.
The method is the story. Several passages were played on a MIDI keyboard instead of a guitar and then rendered as audio, which lets the band write lines no hand could reach on a fretboard. It is a production decision with a clear motive rather than a gimmick, and it belongs to a project that has spent two decades adding symphonic arrangement, electronics and avant-garde ideas to a foundation of black and death metal.
The song goes back to Death Blast, the 2020 release, and reshapes what was there into something that no longer resembles it. It also connects to Apocalyptic Sleep from 2025: set three thousand years earlier, it examines the demonic side of human nature as a prelude to the ruined world that album described.
Onsetcold formed in Cheshire in 2003 and have four albums behind them, among them Arte Destroyer in 2020 and Noam Chomsky in 2023, a title that tells you most of what you need about the project's reading habits.
