Orphaned Land will perform their Exclusive Orchestra Show onboard 70,000 Tons of Metal 2027, the first time the band has staged it anywhere outside the Middle East.
The same announcement adds Starkill from the United States and Vintersorg from Sweden to the bill. The ship sails from Miami on 14 January 2027, calls at Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic and is back in Miami on 18 January.
What makes the booking unusual is the format rather than the band. An orchestra show needs players, space and a stage that can hold both, and a cruise ship has four stages and no room to spare on any of them. Orphaned Land have built that show at home in Israel, where the orchestral arrangements of their Middle Eastern material have a local pool of musicians to draw on, and taking it onto a ship is a different problem entirely.
Vintersorg bring a catalogue of eleven albums of Swedish folk and progressive metal, most of it sung in Swedish, and Starkill the melodic death and symphonic end of the American scene. The 2027 line up already holds Forbidden and Visions of Atlantis, which gives some idea of how wide the booking is being cast.
