Ováte have released "Slangen", the song that closes Rúin, with Hoest of Taake singing it.
It is the second piece of the album made public. The record is out on 6 November through Soulseller Records and its whole structure is a rotating cast: six songs, a different guest vocalist on each one, with Spellgoth, H'grimmr of Helheim, Thomas S. Ovstedal of Cor Scorpii, Sanrabb of Gehenna and Odemark taking the others.
Giving Hoest the last track is a choice rather than an accident. His voice is the most immediately recognisable in Norwegian black metal after a certain point, strangled and oddly musical at once, and a record that hands its closing statement to a guest is telling you where it thinks its weight sits.
The band have been quiet for eight years, so an album assembled this way reads as a deliberate way back rather than a continuation.
