Legion Of The Damned head the first announcement for Protzen Open Air 2027, which runs from 17 to 19 June in Brandenburg.
Demonical, Fleshcrawl, Blood Red Throne, Rykers, Malignant Tumour and Depressive Age are confirmed alongside them, with Phantom Corporation, Harmony Dies, Ravager, Requiem, For Victory, Brutal Sphincter, Brain Casket, Pikodeath, Ruins Of Perception, Gore Insanity, Deathstorm, Klaw, Death Atlas and Bloody Invasion filling the rest of what has been named so far. The festival has spent years building a reputation on the opposite of what the large summer events sell. Short distances between stages, a crowd that returns every year, and a bill that runs from death metal through thrash and grindcore into hardcore without pretending those are separate audiences. Half the names above will not appear on any other poster in Germany next summer, which is the argument for going.
Depressive Age are the odd entry and the interesting one, a Berlin band from the early nineties whose progressive thrash never sat with anybody, now on a bill of straight death metal.
