Pyogenesis have released Sing As If, another song from Adolescence, which arrives on 15 January through Hamburg Records.

The label is theirs. A band thirty five years into a career, with a catalogue that ran from doom and death metal in the early 1990s to gothic metal and then to something closer to alternative rock, has decided to put the next record out themselves rather than find a fourth or fifth home for it.

The singles have been arriving in a line. All I Am Is Bleeding came first, with the horror punk band The Other, and broke five years of silence. Uncontrolled followed and was considerably heavier, which the band tied to the album's subject of adolescence and the confusion in it.

Sing As If is the next piece of that, and the pattern across the three is a group refusing to settle on one of their own past styles. For a band who changed direction so sharply in the 1990s that they lost half an audience, releasing a record on their own imprint is the logical end of that argument.
