Quartz have confirmed that they are working on the follow up to Six, and that recording is already under way.

Six came out on 18 April 2025, so the gap is about a year and a half, which for this band counts as brisk. They formed in 1977 in the city that had produced Black Sabbath seven years earlier, made four albums, and split in 1983. The reunion that began in 2011 has now run longer than the original band ever did.

On the Edge of No Tomorrow arrived in 2022 alongside the Sound Circus '77 EP of early material, and Six followed three years later with twelve songs on it, among them Insomnia, Burn in Hell and Knights of Darkness.

The line up behind all of that is close to the one that made the first records. Mick Hopkins and Malcolm Cope were both there at the start in 1977. Derek Arnold played bass until 1980 and came back in 2011. Geoff Bate, who sang for one stretch in 1983, returned in 2022 and now handles vocals and guitar. No title and no release date have been given for the new record.
