Quemasantos have opened digital pre-orders for Stranded in Hell, their second album, and put out its first track, One Foot In Hell, with a lyric video. Anyone who pre-orders digitally gets the song straight away.

Ignacio Orellana, who founded the band and plays drums in it, traces the song back to a specific memory: the fast, old-school drumming on Pestilence records, which is the sound he says has always pulled at him. What grew out of that is wider than a tribute. The piece runs hard through its thrash sections, then drops into a contrasting middle passage that carries the guitar solo, and Orellana names Anthrax and Metallica alongside his own history when he describes it. He also says it was one of the last songs put together for the record, which is usually a sign that a band has worked out what the album is before they write its opening.

Juancho Gomez of Masacre plays on it. That is a direct line back to the South American death metal that shaped Orellana, who also drums in Pirosaint and All Angels Massacre.

Metal Archives files Quemasantos as international rather than as one country's band, with members in New York and in Santiago, and dates the project to 2015. Digmetalworld releases it. Eleven tracks, and the title tells you where they go.
